July 2009 saw Pete Ryder and I board a plane for our 3rd expedition together and our 2nd with Jagged Globe. Our guides through this beautiful mountain range were all American and on 10th July I and 4 others stood on the summit of Denali.
August 2010 and I was in Tibet to attempt one of the 14 8000m peaks in the Himalayas, Cho Oyu, it was to be my last mountain before I attempted Everest in 2011.
Again I hooked up with Jagged Globe on a great expedition led by Robert ‘Madds’ Anderson and Thomas Jakcovic, 2 awesome mountaineers. But it wasn’t to be our year, in fact in was to be no ones year as for the first time in over 20 years no one got to the summit of Cho Oyu due to bad weather conditions.
We were at 7200m when avalanches above turned everyone back and our expedition was over.
Mount McKinley, or Denali (Koyukon Athabaskan for “The High One”), in Alaska, is the highest mountain peak in the United States and in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,320 feet (6,194 m) above sea level.
Measured base-to-peak, it is the tallest mountain on land. Measured by topographic prominence, it is the third most prominent peak in the world after Mount Everest and Aconcagua. It is the centerpiece of Denali National Park and Preserve.
