Elbrus – May 2012

Having been living in a ski resort in France for the last 2 seasons a group of friends, all English and all based in the same village as I but with considerably much more skiing ability than I have decided that for number 5 we would ski tour.

So in May 2012 myself and 4 very good friends, Trevor Schofield, Andy Kimmerling, Jason Shutt and Rory Burton laden with ski’s and equipment met our Mountain Tracks guide at Geneva airport. Less than 3 weeks later Jason, Rory, Olly and I stood on the summit.

Mt. Elbrus (west summit) stands at 5,642 metres (18,510 ft); the east summit is slightly lower at 5,621 metres (18,442 ft).

Mount Elbrus  is a dormant volcano located in the western Caucasus mountain range, in Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay–Cherkessia, Russia, near the border of Georgia.
